Starting out
So, instead of a real Writer’s Hat, I have a blog of that
name. A schoolboy error was averted in
the naming of the blog - Writershat may give the wrong impression, so out with
the S.
The point of the Writer’s Hat, is that there is too much
procrastination in the writing process – in my experience. Cries of ‘I need a desk’, ‘I need new
lighting’, ‘I need a PC/printer/spare room/kitchen table/pen/paper’. Finally when we run out of things we need to
enable us to write, the Writer’s Hat is required – now I have mine.
Don’t get me wrong – I do write. I write first paragraphs; first few chapters;
ranting articles; tweets – but there needs to be some purpose. This is my start.
I’m about to embark on the final two modules of an Open
University BA (Hons) English Literature and Creative Writing. I am so looking forward to getting going with
these modules – especially the Creative Writing. The Level 2 module (A215 Creative Writing)
was marvellous – so inspiring and motivating, so I have great expectations for
the Level 3 module. 120 credits in one
academic year – studying part time while working full time – will be a
challenge, but I’m ready for it – Bring it on!!
On 7th September I can access my student portal
and find out what the assignments are – I’ve already read some of the books so
I’m well prepared. And I do have new
notebooks, pencils and a pc – no hat needed.
Updates will follow
